Branding "N" Advertising

The branding and advertising industry in Nigeria dates back years when its pioneers had the sole aim of accomplishing marketing functions of their respective companies. Then, leading companies established special arms to take care of these objectives. During this period, many practitioners controlling the industry were foreigners. With independence coming in 1960 and a federal government decree some years later, the door was opened to indigenous practitioners to engage in the business of advertising, brand management and activation, out-of-home media, PR and reputation management.
Noisemaker Limited, a customer focused integrated marketing communication agency with world class competency in the delivery of quality services that position brands for success, made a grand entry on the  scene and clearly hit the ground running by deftly claiming its spot in the industry. The company, run by young, intellectually sound and analytical Jubril Dixon boasts of a rich client base that include telecom giant MTN, Unilever, John Holt, EKO Supreme Resources limited, 141 worldwide advertising Limited, Promasidorgroup and a virile brand management record that boasts of such household brands as OMO, Lux,So Klin, So klin Protect, Royco, Blueband Margarine, Loya milk, and the very popular western union brand, has redefined the terrain with its creativity and innovation.
For a young company like NoiseMakers Ltd to have successfully demonstrated its competence and brand activation capabilities within its relatively short period of entry, such an outfit deserves a garland and commendation. Its core competencies include outdoor advertising, media buying, Public Relations, Experiential Marketing and event management. According to the chief Executive officer, Jubril Dixon, the success of NoiseMakers Ltd lies in its ability to embrace competition as a form of motivation. The award winning achiever who leads a team of other young and dynamic professionals said the company develops and implements winning strategies using appropriate marketing communication tools designed to enhance sustain and propagate brand essence that puts their clients in vantage positions to excel.
The company has carved a niche for itself in an industry known for its creativity and it is on the right path to conquer greater ground with a pt-pouri of ideas, creativity, innovation and technology. Noisemakers Limited with its office in Opebi, Ikeja is strategically placed to expose and demonstrate real and clear values to the benefit of partnering brands.
On where he sees NoiseMakers in a few years from now, the resourceful CEO who has an idea on most topics but a guru in brand management and activation says “NoiseMakers will be managing the briefs of major brands all around the world” The sky we believe is just the starting point
ENTERTAINMENT
No doubt the Nigerian music industry has come a long way. Gone are the days when Cally Ikpe had it locked down for all hip-hop heads with his Live Beats on NTA2 channel 5.All aspiring artists had to mount that platform to make a statement. Icant help but laugh when I remember the crazy dance steps displayed on Prince 2000’s Sunday rendezvous, which was obviously a soul-train wanna be. Then in came King Kenny, the game-changer with Kennis music, a foretaste of the emerging Kennis music empire
Looking back all these years, you cant but appreciate the grounds which our local artists have conquered and the feats they have achieved with trailer loads of international awards to show for their efforts. But in all of these, we want to take a roll-call of some artists who started the race but got burnt out along the line. Those artists that made headlines with hits and had a lot of expectations heaped on them by music lovers, but somehow-someway their mic got missing

MP:Not long after his exit from the popular musical group JJC and 419 squad, MP tested the waters in Nigeria as a solo artist with a club-friendly single, No Dull Yourself . He went on to do a track with another MC who happens to have lost his mic in the person of Tony Tetuilla titled Doremi. This London returnee also dropped passa-passa which was an average hit, but since then nothing has been heard of this brother. Will somebody pls help find his mic!

Soul E I really cannot say at what point Soul E’s career took a nose dive. This soulful brother was an obvious alternate to 2Baba. His sonorous voice was the killer punch in all mixesand he was the toast of the dance floor. Maybe the artist bit more than he could chew and he got caught up on the wrong side. But one thing we sure know is that the dude cant find his mic!

Tony Tetuila: Tetuila had quite a few musical successes. Hits that will struggle for airplay if were to be released today. But at that point in time, that was what we had. You don hit my car single was an instant hit and his collabo with MP on Doremi gave a little extra life to his dwindling career.  But there is little you can do with a dead horse. Can Tetuila still get a mic?

Blackface: A member of the defunct plantashun Boiz, Blackface was expected to hit the ground running when the group broke-up being very visible and vocal while in the group. Blackface did not disappoint with his solo effort: hard life, the single was widely applauded and was seen as a deviation from the regular. We felt a new dancehall king had come to the throne.  But to what many of his fans attribute to a particular banned substance, the young brother lost his way in the music industry and also his mic!

Seyi Sodimu: I was about asking the love me jeje crooner if he could still find his place in the saturated music industry, seyi sodium took a very long break from the industry. One wonders if  the self-acclaimed king of afro soul can still hold his own against the array of young bloods running the game now. One thing is sure though, the money man has definitely found his mic as he has dropped his latest work, Gbedu. We’ll just have to wait to find out how he rocks the !

StylePlus: This group of songsters serenaded us with hits that radio stations could not just stop playing. This brothers redefined soul music with their hit single Olufunmi and they followed up with a couple of other hits like Iya Basira, Call my Name but the group lost the mic and don’t seem to know how to it. The industry must have been bigger than these chaps or what could make three grown guys loose a single mic!

Rock ‘n’ Roll Reverend and the jerry-curl keeping leader of the Household of God Church in Oregun, Rev. SENAMI SOSU LIVES IT BIG

Different strokes for different folks, so the saying goes. Senami Sosu, the Badagry-born former mistress of the former Delta State governor who is currently cooling his head in a London jail, Chief James Ibori is having the best of times at the moment despite the present trauma/travails of her former lover and benefactor. The beautiful lady who resides in Dublin was recently spotted in lekki in a state of the art automobile looking dashing as ever. A bird in the know claims the upwardly mobile damsel is really doing good for herself as she recently completed a multimillion naira mansion in that choice area of town. Before she jetted out of the country, the lady had a swell party for friends at Deuces nite club, Victoria Island.

SEUN ANIKULAPO KUTI’S ADDICTION

OSHOGBO LANDLORDS ON WARPATH WITH AREGBESOLA

Landlords in Oshogbo, the Osun state capital are up in arms against the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola over what they term as a wicked under-valuing of their landed properties. The landlords whose properties were demolished to make way for the proposed ring road have vowed resist any attempt to short-change them over compensation in the demolition exercise. Governor Aregbesola had proposed a payment of N1million to owners of one-bedroom flat, N1.5million for 4bedroom flat and N800, 000 for an 8room bungalow, a decision the landlords claim is aimed at improvishing them because they might loose value for their properties. The landlords comprising the aged an retirees are residents of five communities; Ataoja, Iludun, Ofatedo, Okebaale, and Costain. Their spokesperson, Elder Joshua Olugbenga Odewumi said the residents supported the projects but were against the alleged low compensation the government plans to pay for their properties. Elder Joshua said anxiety had gripped the landlords when government officials who visited the affected areas under-valued the houses and made ridiculous proposals to the government as compensation. He also urged the governor to have a rethink as most of the affected house owners were retirees and the aged, who might find it difficult to raise money to build new ones. The landlords have taken their fight to the state assembly and have implored the house to prevail on the governor to have a change of heart and increase the compensation or their fight will continue

EKITI WORKERS IN MASS FAILURE OF ASSESSMENT EXAM

The decline in education is gradually deep into the fabrics of all classes of the society in spite of age, cadre or sex. The latest victims of the scourge are the senior workers in the state popularly referred to as the ‘fountain of knowledge’, Ekiti state. The state civil servants sat for the Capacity Assessment Examination which the state government aimed at using to promote those that performed well, but the result of the exam has caused most of the senior workers who are mostly on grades level 14 to 17 to run from pillar to post, seeking help to avoid sack or retrenchment from service in the face of the mass failure in the exam. This development is as a result of the mass failure recorded in the exam by the senior workers who scored below average. According to reliable sources in the ministry, the state governor is very disappointed by the performance of the senior workers and has promised to show the failed candidates the way out of the civil services. Dr Fayemi even questioned why a state referred to as the fountain of knowledge amongst other states lacks workers who are shinning examples of knowledge. Most of the workers performed well in the civil service rules and regulation test but performed woefully in the current affairs and use of English tests. It was gathered that none of the workers scored above 20% in the professional questions. The failed workers have secretly taken their case to the permanent secretary in the office of Establishment and trainings, Mr Lekan Ayelesoto help plead with the governor and order a retake of the assessment exam

The Black Wall Street Journal

Delving into the historical background of the underlying fundamentals that first made up The Black Wall Street would invariably reveal and give great insight about the concept of our well organised and galvanised movement to rescue Africa from the shackles of economic woes. Reminiscent on past events, The Black Wall Street had its origin from a community called Tulsa which was later named Greenwood after a town in Mississippi by one of the founding Fathers, Ottawa W. Gurley in Oklahoma USA. They were formally organised in 1906 when a group of African-Americans converged together to develop Tulsa, Greenwood community in order to ensure freedom from social segregation, racial bigotry, flippant oppression, relentless barbarism, manhunt and picnic. Someone might be tempted to ask why picnic. Unknown to many, the word "picnic" was actually coined from the word "pick a nigger to lynch", which literally means pick a black guy to kill, this happened in the predominantly wh
